Is it normal to have to ask which massacre?

People were talking about the theater shooting the other day and it struck me, I actually didn't know which shooting it was because there have been so many. It seems as if every month in the US there is at least one rather large massacre per month... How's the violence scale in other places?

Car and suicide bombings kill hundreds daily around the world. Groups kidnap school girls and little boys daily in Africa and make wives and soldiers out of them, respectively. Fighting rages on in Iraq, Egypt, Gaza and Syria and more than 11 innocent people have probably died while I write this.
It's a fucking horrible world, what's your point?

Right on, although I prefer Popeye's fried chicken on account of those Cajun spices! Woo child!!!

The latest shooting was in Louisiana, I think. Theaters only have the one exit, so it's a good bottleneck for a crazy person to shoot people. Maybe movie theaters should check you at the door. I wouldn't mind if they started doing that.

"Louisiana" consists entirely out of 1 point tiles if you made it during a game of Scrabble

We all know that Australia is paradise. Bragging about it makes us all feel like scum.

Ha Ha, it's not paradise, but we do have sensible gun laws and saying so doesn't mean any other country's people are scum

Long ago when I lived down under, the people that thought it wasn't paradise, like you had never lived outside the country. Everyone bitched about politicians because there was nothing wrong with anything else. You are far more privileged than you will ever know.

You're right, I have never lived anywhere else, but acknowledging that my country isn't a paradise is hardly bitching and nor is wanting it to be more fair than it is.

You have no idea whether I personally am privileged in the context of the country I live in and I can assure I am not, and nor are many other people.

I'd be interested to know when you lived here, for how long and why you left? Just curious ....

Long ago, I lived in Canberra for two years. I left because my work visa had expired.
