I'm a teen girl trying to make sense of the world ...
My neighbor's wife/kid were shot and killed because they owed money to the wrong people, man was murdered with a screwdriver outside my apartment, dad was stabbed by my brother, blah blah
Are people really just this bad ??

I answered No, but honestly? I wouldn't know, I've lived in quiet suburbs all my life, nothing ever happens here. Violent things have happened around me but I always hear about them later, I never witness them.
A guy got shot at a university I used to attend, just a block over from my dorm room. There were gangs and guns all over my high school, never seen or heard until someone winds up missing. My uncle was shot and killed while on duty downtown. My brother was involved in some gang violence that he won't tell me about, but was at least serious enough for him to try and get me to lend him my knife for a night. I drive by lit cop cars every month or so and wonder what happened.
I guess the only difference is the violence in my life isn't happening to me directly.
Neighborhoods like yours are one-in-a-million. You're a very unlucky individual and I would be careful if I were you. Are people really that bad? Well, some certainly are.
