My wife and I were having problems in our marriage for about two years, we had split up and she had a few partners in this time. We ended up back together intimately and we were working on things. We were married for almost six years at this point and together for over ten. We have two young children 2 and 4 years old. I love her very much and can't imagine my life without her we are best friends. The other night my wife had gone out with a friend and got completely wasted I stayed home and had a couple of beers with my buddy. So we were in bed and I tried to initiate sex but she was out for the count. I don't even know what came over me but I proceeded to have my way with her figuring she would wake up during it and go with it, we have done that before but this time she was on her period so I went for the other choice. Needless to say she did wake up and was not having it and told me to get of of her and a still continued till she said it again then I got of of her. The next morning we got up and all was fine other than her really bad hangover. A few days later she told me how she felt and that I had raped her and if she was smart she would have gone to the hospital and been checked out and have me charged for rape. That's bad but that's not the worst part! The worst part is seeing what I had done to her and how it was affecting her. I truly love her and can't believe how I hurt her or how I could do that to her. Am I some kind of monster or just a husband who has been hurt too and disrespecting my wife by having un consensual sex with her? Please help!

    My opinion is that you raped your wife it's as simple as that but I think when you were doing it you didn't realise it and it only registered that you raped her when she said so, I suspect when you were doing it you knew it was wrong but you didn't think of it as rape with that being said the fact that you actually went for the other option means you knew exactly what you were doing. If she had been awake would she have allowed you to go with the other option? if not you took advantage of the situation to satisfy your selfish needs. That is my opinion and interpretation of your story. I hope your wife recovers from this ordeal and I hope you get help.

      I think your spot on, I realize this now. I hope she recovers too. As for help for me I don't know where to start. I think I just need some time to myself to think about what I have done and really realize the damage I have caused. And make sure I never do anything like this again.
