Is it normal to have partial dreadlocks?

I am a female with 12 dreadlocks surrounding my cerebellum. The top portion of my hair is undreaded but the bottom layer is composed of 9 locks. I have 1 on each side of my face dangling in front of my ears and an extra one on one side for symmetry (one got much shorter than the other). I don't plan on locking all of my hair since I like the fact that I can hide them. At first they looked like shit but they're behaving well now. Is this style normal?

  • Whatever you like is normal. If you like your hair that way then keep it!

There isn't anything less appealing to me than dreadlocks.
There are a lot of real Rastafarians down here and their dreads are filthy and disgusting.
Even the most attractive woman can make herself amazingly unattractive by having dreadlocks. I can't even imagine touching dreadlocks, let alone making love to a woman who has them.

You've said that so many times. And from other things you've said,I think you would hate me in real life. I have dreads, I wear makeup and I'm from jersey, which as you put it, has not one redeeming quality :'( it hurts, captain, it hurts.

I'm sorry if my dislike of New Jersey causes you pain, however, I would be quite willing to bet you are not personally responsible for any of the things about New Jersey that I dislike.
I do agree though, if we did meet I probably wouldn't find you too attractive, but if I found you to be interesting and pleasant to be around, I don't think I'd let your looks put me off a good friendship.

I wouldn't say I hate NJ, but I do dislike the place. There are a multitude of reasons that I find the place less than a desirable place to live. Suffice to say I did live and work there one year and would not return the next season.

    • I imagined you to be one who digs sexy island hair. Some people may not clean their dreadlocks, but the general belief that they are dirty is a myth. I wash my dreads just like the rest of my hair and I find a full head of them on other women quite attractive.

People frequently ask me "is it true you can't wash those?" I want to punch them so hard.

And how do you wash the inside of a tight wrapped dreadlock? Come on now, if you don't undo them, they are not getting clean inside.

Well, not all dreads are created equal. Mine aren't that fat, and there is a little resilience when I squeeze them. I spend quite a bit of time when I wash them. There's a lot of squeezing going on, getting shampoo inside and lots more squeezing and rinsing and wringing and repeating.

Then one must also make sure the insides are dry before washing and or wetting them again. You know what constant moisture can lead to, yes? So that's a problem some people may have. Others are just total dirtbags for sure. Honestly I dislike most other dreads that I see. I happen to think mine are pretty spectacular and so do lots of other people.

You may have your opinion sir, I am not so easily offended. I was just sayin, ya, know?

Now you've got my curiosity up. I do commend you for your diligence in keeping yours clean. If you knew any true Rastas, I think you'd understand my repugnance.

My hair is real curly when it gets long. when it grows out, it always locks up when it passes my shoulders. No matter how much conditioner I use and how I straighten it, it just does its rasta thing. So I keep it really short. But I'm a guy, so I guess it's a bit more socially acceptable.
