Is it normal to have an urge to fall like madmen?

Sometimes I get incredibly bored (depressed) and can't think of anything I'd like to be doing, except to be falling.

Falling very far, on my back (like the Madmen intro), or upright as if to land on my feet. I don't think I ever want to land. Just continue falling.

Is it normal?

yes there is something very appealing about the idea of free falling to me as well. I suppose it's the ultimate giving in (to gravity), the relinquishing of all control and responsibility.
I like the following quote by Kundera:
"Anyone whose goal is 'something higher' must expect someday to suffer vertigo. What is vertigo? Fear of falling? No, Vertigo is something other than fear of falling. It is the voice of the emptiness below us which tempts and lures us, it is the desire to fall, against which, terrified, we defend ourselves."

    • When I was in Prague I had this quote tacked onto my dresser. Not entirely sure why I never felt the connection.

I guess the urge itself seems very visceral to me and I never bothered to intellectualize it that way.

Prague is pretty impressive, isn't it? Shame my hotel didn't have any quotes tacked to the furniture.
Maybe you could try Bungee jumping. No analytical skills required :)

  • I had an experience when I was a child. I was on the play park swing and I slipped off the swing at a very high height and I was falling as if I was laying down. It felt as if time was slow because I should of hit the ground in a faster time limit but I didnt and I remember while I was falling everything see,ed silent and I was staring up at the sky and couldnt see anything like buldings etc, It was most likely the best thing that has happened to me.

    • Wrong you arent a psychopath because psychopaths think they are as normal as everyone else and dont realise they are psychotic.
