Is it normal to have a strange affinity to a historical figure?

First I would Like to ask If it seem normal to feel a subtle, but firm affinity to a Historical Figure, or maybe a fictional one, ETC

And Secondly If so, how and possibly why do you feel this way?

One of the ones I feel i don't have a rational explanation for why, But Date Masamune aka the one-eyed dragon

He was the northern warlord during Feudal Japan bloody unification, popularized but his Signature one eye, crescent moon helmet and cunning tactician. His is a popular character in many "historical" dramas and anime about Japan's waring times.

I think it maybe his calculated, but seemingly rebellious and impulsive nature that resonates with me.
