Is it normal to have a hard time falling asleep because i'm afraid of ....

I usually have a very hard time falling asleep (like right now its 2am in the morning) because I'm afraid of the dark. Usually I believe something is going to come out of my closet like a demon or a monster, sometimes I think aliens are gonna come from my window or what ever weird creepy thing my mind thinks of. This usually keeps me awake until my eyes and head hurts so much that I just fall asleep. This is very inconvenient because It brings me trouble in home and troubles me with my university works. Is it normal? Any of you have felt this way? Just in case I'm not faking I'm being serious, sadly I'm being serious.

It is completely normal. If i don't have my tv on while trying to fall asleep, I will lay there and think of the worst possible thing that could ever happen and think of all these weird creatures until im sweating and scared shitless.

    haha.

You know, the only way to stop a fear is to face it. I used to be so scared of the dark when I was young. Sometimes I thought I'd see faces in the ceiling, and that they'd try to drip down and attack me. That was, until my mom installed a light with a timer.

It set to click off after an hour, and click on right before the sun rises. So I'd always wake up with light. I don't need it anymore, but see if they works for you. :D Good luck!

I grew up near a zoo and I was always afraid that the lions and tigers would escape and find their way to my house. I took to sleeping facing the wall so I wouldn't see their jaws close on me as they pounced. I'm a fully grown adult with my own place now, but I still sleep facing away from the door. I even do it in hotels that are nowhere near zoos.

I guess it's normal to have irrational fears.
