Is it normal to hate the song "we are never ever getting back together?"
Don't get me wrong, I am not a Taylor Swift hater. I am also not saying she can't sing or that she's talentless. But I personally don't understand what's so great about one of her newer songs, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," and why it is so popular. In fact, I absolutely LOATHE the song. Here's why:
First of all, "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" sounds like something a little kid wrote, instead of a grown woman. The lyrics are so repetitive, it's like Taylor had no imagination whatsoever when she wrote the song. You can only listen to "Never ever ever ever ever..." so many times before it gets annoying.
Secondly (and this is my main reason for hating the song so much), "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" is ANOTHER Taylor Swift song about - what a surprise - a breakup. I was at the beach last summer and I heard an announcement about Taylor coming out with a new song over the P.A. system. Then I heard Taylor sing, "We are never ever ever getting back together." I thought, That girl can't sing about anything other than breakups, can she? I am aware Taylor has songs about other things (being in love, her friends, her mother, her relationship with her band, and life in general) too, but it seems like at least 80 percent of her songs deal with the same darn thing...some guy breaks her heart and then she plays the victim.
Thirdly, Taylor is still classified by the music industry as country when she is clearly pop now. "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" is one example of this.
If anybody on here likes the song, then that is your personal opinion, and I am not bashing you for it. Again, I am not hating on Taylor or saying she has no talent in general. But is it normal that I hate "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" with a fiery passion?
