Is it normal to hate sheldon cooper?

Sheldon Cooper seems to be pretty much everyone's favourite character The Big Bang Theory, but he is my least favourite of everyone on the show. I rarely find him funny, just extremely irritating and I don't understand why everyone likes him so much. I know they're just characters and the writers have to keep Sheldon in the show because he is basically the most popular character but I think in real-life no-one would put up with his arrogance. Am I the only one that can't stand Sheldon Cooper?

    The whole show's annoying. I loved it till end of season 3 or start of 4. They did what all sitcoms do when they start to run out of ideas, introduced new characters. One of which was a female sheldon. It's like adding them stretched the writing and the whole thing went downhill.

      I agree. The first couple of seasons were really entertaining though. I am not a huge sitcom watcher. I really enjoyed that 70s show and stopped there.

        I should check that out Ashton Kutcher put me off, i've always found him irksome but I saw the butterfly effect recently and was amazed at his performance

              i didnt see it but i figured as much most sequels are horrible with a few exceptions of course

            It really is, a friend has been trying to get me to watch it for months, I guess I was expecting a teen comedy that dabbled in time travel but I was so wrong

    It is kind of implied that Sheldon has aspergers..thats why he comes off as really disconnected and or an arrogant prick..at least the actor who plays him says he tries to portray Sheldon as someone who is autistic. It makes sense if you think about it.

    Yes, an extremely irritating character. But really, without him what would the show really be?
    The interesting thing is that he is actually a bully, the one thing you wouldn't expect someone who was bullied to be, right?

    I once had an odd dream where I met and made sweet love to my male self. As it turns out my unconscious thinks my male self looks like that dude. I had always hoped my male self would look more like Johnny Depp.

    I think the show is really funny because there really are people that weird. You probably know someone with Aspergers or ocd and who annoys you in real life and Sheldon reminds you of him. As funny as certain characters are on tv if you had to deal with them in real life youd want to murder them. Like Kramer on Seinfeld.

    I relate to his character a lot. People have compared me to a cross between him and Homer Simpson.

    I hate him too, but the whole show sucks really. Raj and wolowitz are kind of cute though..

    There's something about him that deeply annoys me too. Actually, the actor when he is just being himself annoys me as well. Is it the way he talks? Moves his mouth? What is it? For me, Sheldon Cooper (even the name is annoying) ruins the entire show. If he wasn't on there I wouldn't mind watching the show more often.
