Is it normal to hate pre-cut 4x4 inch pieces of toilet paper in public toilets?

At least five times recently when I've been traveling by car I've used public restrooms at rest stops or at truck travel centers and I've been surprised to find in the toilet stall, after I've done my task, a metal container of pre-cut 4x4-inch pieces of toilet paper has replaced the more traditional roll or two mounted to the stall partition. Each time I've had trouble and twice two of my fingers collected more crap than the little piece of toilet paper. Some stalls had the pieces of toilet paper thrown about pretty handily. I find using them so inconvenient. Upon leaving one rest stop I asked an elderly lady handing out maps and giving travel information why the change was made. She agreed with me, but said state governments and businesses are seeking to control wastage and overall appear to be more environmentally-friendly. For a person who is just becoming more accepting of the sensor-driven flushers, I wonder if the pre-cut squares are a logical and paper-saving idea.

Just wipe your ass with leaves or anything you can find.

  • I love the idea of the pre-cut squares; while they are inconvenient to use for wiping, they do save paper overall and especially for those persons who will use at least two or three long strips (perhaps six or seven squares EACH) to place over the seat before their bodily function even begins. Too many users place too much emphasis on covering the seats and this just wastes more precious trees!

I've not seen those, but I am certain they are every bit as atrocious as you have described them here.

We need to start a petition, SAVE THE TP ROLLS!!!
