Is it normal to hate having parties that are all about you? (birthdays etc.)

I can't stand birthday parties or anything that deals with me being the main reason why everyone is around. It's uncomfortable and I feel like i'm not permitted to leave. The excessive amount of attention absolutely aggravates me.
And i hate throwing parties because im afraid to see who won't show up. And know who doesn't care. Since I'm the main reason the event is being thrown in the first place. Is any, some, or most of this normal or is it all in my head?

Don't worry. Most people aren't comming because of you. They're just comming to have fun and to be around others.
Only your true friends and close ones are there for you. Hope that takes the preasure off...

I'm the same, when I was 8 I actually cried and ran off when they started singing "Happy Birthday" to me.

Hahaha! I'm kinda the same way. I mean, it's very thoughtful that people care, but most of the time I don't need someone to throw me a party. I'd be fine with just going out to dinner or something like that.
