Is it normal to hate alcohol?

It seems like people get more aggressive when they have been drinking alcohol and arguments start that would normally not have happened.

All people in my college talk about is how drunk they were at the weekend or how drunk they are going to be in the future and alcohol seems to be the most common topic of conversation.

I have been drinking alcohol from the age of 15 but I have never got to the point where I cannot control my actions and feel ill and I don't intend to. At parties people always ask if I'm drunk when the truth is I've only had like one beer or nothing at all. I enjoy myself a lot and get involved although most parties I go to suck because everyone drinks too much and people fall out and cry.

I have had numerous incidents with drunken people while walking home alone, some being very scary, and I wonder if those would have happened had alcohol not been involved.

So alcohol is unhealthy, addictive, slows your reactions, tastes disgusting like antibacterial hand wash most of the time, makes people aggressive, makes people upset, makes you tired and makes you ill.

"Oh but it makes you more comfortable and relaxed!"

Maybe people should learn how to be comfortable and confident in social interaction without the use of drugs first instead of relying on alcohol to have a good time.

Is it normal to have such a hatred? Haha

Thank you :)

Yes, it's normal. They're called Teetotalers. Look it up and love yourself for who you are. Other people's opinions don't matter, so you shouldn't live your life by them.

I've drunk wine before and had it ice cream ,and it HAS NEVER made me aggressive. It has made me aggressively assault the toilet with what came out of my bottom, but that's another story. Why don't you try switching to wine? It's healthy. Studies suggest drinking a glass a day, to prolong your life. With any alcohol moderation is key. That's something that more people should learn about.

    I hear you.

Even if people are upset that there is no liquor at a social event or whatever, that's still an addiction.

Lots of people get hooked, and need drugs to enjoy life. It's a slow circling around a drain into oblivion. Set yourself free from that before it consumes you. If you feel like life is worse sober, then you have a problem.

'tis a wonderful world of which you dream. Sadly, it will never come to pass. Life is tough and difficult to navigate. Crashing into the shoreline with an excuse rather than riding the waves is understandably appealing.

I really don't think it's only young people. When I finish my fucking drink, I'm gonna kick your fucking ass from here to China, if you don't sit down and shut the fuck up.

I'm glad my friends don't get wasted. All of us drink a lot and hold our liquor. We get together every Saturday, eat and drink the night away. It is a nice break from all the studying and work. To laugh the night away with friends over drinks. Sometimes when we are extra cheerful, we pick a shitty movie and watch it and laugh 'till we can't draw breath XD

But I do see what you mean. The problem isn't alcohol. It's the people that let the drink take control XD
I too hate it when people get smashed on alcohol and then do stupidities.
Drink to enjoy the drink and savor the night. You went out with friends/ significant other to have a good time. What good was that outing when you can't remember anything, you have bruises and your clothes are covered in sick and you have no recollection of how you got in your bed. That's idiotic!

I'd say from 12-22 getting pissed at the weekend was a regular thing for me, I've made so many unforgettable memories with my friends from nights out that it out weighs all the bad shit that has happened.

Yes it's normal. Alcohol sucks in so many ways especially because as you say, it makes people do things they wouldn't do sober. And as a drinker I can tell you the shame is overwhelming the next morning when you do somethings you shouldn't have done.

I didnt drink until I was 21 my bf didnt drink until he was 21.
I dont mind alcohol myself but since I have turned 21 (26now) I have only drank about 8 times.
my bf hates alcohol. .. he has only drank on his bday and my 21st bday... so twice.
I went to parties as well in hs but never drank anything. I always knew I wanted to be a mother so I wanted to be a good example to my future kids. i also wanted to show them i could have a good time without alcohol. :)

Ha! Anybody that would ever exceed 0.04% BAC is gross, animalistic, and culturally undesirable.

I think you are missing the point.

Yes, there are many points, such as cost to society, personal responsibility, etc. But my point about the cultural undesirability of 0.04% BAC supersedes all the others. If nobody ever exceeded 0.04% BAC, alcohol would never be an issue.
