Is it normal to get this weird reaction to alcohol

I used to be able to drink a decent amount of alcohol and get drunk with no hangover or bad reaction the next day. In the past couple of months I have been having a weird reaction. I'll drink 1 beer and not feel buzzed or drunk in the slightest, then I'll go to bed and be woken up by my heart beating really fast and hard & uncontrollable shaking. Sometimes this will last half a day and it is AWFUL. I went to a cardiologist to see if maybe something was wrong with my heart, and my heart is strong and healthy. Is a reaction like this normal in some way?

Could be that you are allergic to the ingredients in the alcohol. These ingredients could be genetically modified (GMO) which have been shown to cause a raise in allergic reactions as other health issues since being unleashed on the public, it could pesticides, other artificial ingredients like preservatives or dyes, etc.

You would be better off finding an organic alcohol company, which may be very hard, switching to wine or making your own alcohol with healthy ingredients.

My heart rate used to increase noticeably after a beer or two. Drinking some water with it usually helps, but not always. I have weird reactions to things, though.

You need to drink waaaaaaaaay more than one beer. Start out with a 12 pack and add a beer every day

Some beer brands make me sneeze uncontrollably. Must be some ingredient I can't tolerate.

  • Maybe it was water and you have a sugar deficiency.
