Is it normal to get rid of old mattress by putting it on curb?

I see many people do this. Some look semi-clean while others, not so much. I can't fathom doing this. I have a dirty old mattress from 10+ years ago that has so many drink stains on it, it looks disgusting. How do people dispose of these without feeling embarrassed? I literally have skid-mark looking things on there from chocolate when I was like 12. I literally slept on a hersheys bar one night lol. It looks like poop and piss all over it. How do people do this? is it normal for people to have no shame? I'm thinking of stapling two sheets to it so they can't see the actual mattress but then they'll know I'm hiding something!

Just toss out it out there as is. Nobody's going to care about your old bed. Then again I've put out old, filthy looking, worn out mattresses out in the past only to see people pull up to the driveway in their cars and take the nasty looking things away to use for themselves. Lol

I hate the way a mattress lying on the curb looks. If they don't want it anymore, they should take it to the dump.

Difficult for someone living alone - some of those mattresses weigh a ton and don't have handles, and what about if you don't have a car? Awkward on the bus I reckon.

you should tie it to the top of your car with a string and drive around with it until it flies off.

Burn it and use the springs for something cool.

Yep, you're definitely normal. People are so normal in my neighbourhood, that you can't go for a walk because we're all buried in mattresses.
