When ever I hear people talk about Metal they say things like how can people enjoy some one screaming into a mic?
I mean metal is so much more than that, it has complicated guitar riffs, drumming, and bass lines.And the vocals which if done right can be completely awesome and melodic! (look up The Haunted)
Every time an asshole starts blaring (c)rap at an intersection, I turn the speakers up and start playing a Slayer song. After a while they stopped trying.

Yeah dude, it frustrates the hell out of me. I'm into bands like Cholera, Salt the Wound, etc. People don't understand that every component of the music is intended to convey emotion. Non-metal heads always focus on the screaming because they don't see the bigger picture. That's why when I'm in the car, I play it loud enough for people to get the message :)
or when non-metal heads pretend to like metal just to get a guy they like attention?! yes. its so annoying!!
Omg I feel you. My boyfriend is in a heavy metal band and he's the vocalist he gets shit for it. But I love the music. So fuck what everyone else thinks.
I don't know if you consider bullet for my valentine metal, but they are at least hard rock and have some awesome melodic spngs
Non-metal people.... you mean ''starters'' or posers or just people who doesn't listen to that at all.
Personally I'm into black and death metal mostly..I still like to go see some thrash metal band from time to time... so for me Speed metal and all the fuckin Goth ''metal'', nÜ metal and that kind of shit is utterly horrible and to me those people are ''not''' metal at all, and I would not qualify them of ''posers'' 'Cause it gets fucking annoying and I hate gossipin' pussies, wearing a Burzum shirt or not.
so you see everything is relative and you can't talkshit on someone else'S taste as much as they can't say shit on yours.

Perhaps these people prefer to be able to hear the lyrics clearly? Or they listened to the awful bands that attempt to be 'hardcore' but fail miserably and lump them all in a group as the same.
Up to you to educate them if it matters that much to you.
