Is it normal to get extremely attached to a show?

Almost every time I get into a new show, I literally become more emotionally invested in it than my own life (which i guess isn't saying much because I'm not very invested in my life at all.). It feels like I ACTUALLY personally know the characters in the show and it affects me and a very deep, emotional way. It can get pretty bad, too. I also get extremely upset when the show ends or I have to wait for the next season. It feels like someone ripped out my heart and left me with a giant hole in my chest. It feels like I can't life without my shows. Is it normal to be this dependent on a fictional show for my happiness??

Of course it's not normal to "can't life" without your shows. I've been saying this all week: Stop caring about the fucking media, it's all made up bullshit, even the news, it's propaganda. How anyone can be emotionally invested in the kind of shit that is on television is beyond me.

Sorry, I meant "live", not life.

That is exactly the intent of most TV shows. It just means you are the perfect viewer; their target audience.
