Is it normal to get dizzy after shoulder rub?

Today I received a very deep shoulder and neck massage. I haven't been massaged in months so I was very tensed up. After he finished, my muscles were completely buzzy and tingly feeling! And then when I stood up, my head started to spin a little and I felt slightly dizzy. The massage was fantastic.... Is it normal that I felt dizzy and lightheaded when I stood up afterwards?

People have actually died from getting a rigorous massage. You can get blood clots from excessive manipulation of the muscles between the neck and shoulders. Veins can tear, particularly if the pressure applied and the movements resulting, are jerk/snap-like.

Hah! I just read about this yesterday.

Did you go to a masseur?

    • No, it was just an amateur massage from this guy I like.

      • Wow...he must be really good! That's impressive. Did he offer it out of the blue, if you don't mind my asking?

        • No, I asked nicely, and he obliged. Anyone who will give me a massage like that without hesitation is quite fantastic....

          • It sounds like he's also quite into you. A guy won't rub your back for no reason. At least that's been my experience (haha). Enjoy!
