Is it normal to get angry when someone borrows your pen but doesn't give it back?

It's not that I particularly care about that pen so much, if they'd have asked if they could keep the pen I'd have given it to them without a second thought. It's just the principle. I showed them the (admittedly small) courtesy of lending them a pen, but then they don't bother to show the (equally small) courtesy of giving it back. I just feel it's disrespectful not even to show that small bit of thought and consideration in giving me back things I lend to them.

That's called stealing. Why would someone not be angry?

Because most people don't care about pens. They just automatically put them in their pocket. Smokers do it with lighters. When I do this with pens I do make a point to go back and give it back.

I do it with keys. I automatically put keys in my pocket without thinking. "Are you missing your keys? Let me check my pocket." I could tell you the story of a five hundred dollar set of keys but that is unnecessary.

Lmao I was reading the sentence expecting to read something like "If someone cheats on me" or idk and it turned out to be over a pen lmao nah dude don't sweat it unless that pen was special to you it's not worth getting in a argument over

Yes, I think it's annoying, and it makes me mad, because is disrespectful. I also hate when people ask to borrow money all the time, never pay me back, then actually have the nerve to come sniffing around later like stray animals asking to borrow money again when they haven't even paid me back for the first time.

You could ask for it back. But yeah, the thoughtlessness and self-centredness of other people can be frustrating. But when you know they probably just forgot, it's not worth getting angry about.
