Is it normal to get an erection while thinking about someone you love? I'm NOT talking about in any kind of sexual way, but simply thinking about how happy that person makes you feel. It seems odd as the thoughts pertain to nothing close to sexual.

    yes because I'm assuming the one you love is or was a sexual partner. You may not be consciously thinking about them that way but your brain makes the sexual connection on it's own.
