Is it normal to get a christmas tree from the side of the road?

After Thanksgiving, we drive around looking on the side of the road for a Christmas tree, chop it down and bring it home. Surely we're not the only ones? IIN?

        Definitely not like England all land in England is officially owned by the councils unless has residents on it open land and spaces so it would be stealing
