Is it normal to get: "you're different than anyone i've ever met"

I find I'm often told: "You're different than anyone I've ever met" by people I have just had a longish conversation with and with people I am close to. It's suppose to be positive, interesting, quasi-deep sort of thing most of the time (or all of the time I think?). Sometimes I have briefly thought to myself: "Well, I am *very* different from most people. It makes sense that people would notice this of me, as I have noticed it of myself." but then I think that is just the irrational human egocentric bias to think: "I'm *so* special". To me it seems the more likely explanation is just that a lot, most, or all people are told this from time to time and it's in virtue of the fact that people come in a wide variety and we also tend to notice differences etc. I myself have said that statement, or variation of it, to one person or more I'm sure. So, is it normal (common) to be told this? Please, share your stories.

I get that a lot too after I give them a tour of my torture chamber and human taxidermy collection.

This post is different to anything I've ever read.

I don't expect people to have ever met anyone like me... I never have.

It doesn't seem to matter how long I live, I just keep running across differences between myself and everyone I've ever met.

Lots of little things, (like being able to crack my chest the way other people crack their knuckles even though there are no moving bones in a human chest, or having full control of my Eustachian tubes), but some of the differences are quite substantial, (developmental, (puberty at nineteen)/perceptual, (born seeing visual snow)/cognitive,(I build entire inventions and test them in my head before building them out here in meat-space), etc. etc.

The list is long and not getting any shorter as time goes on.

        I'm just a genetic freak.
        ...and that's, ok.

        Cheers.

            Didn't feel interesting.

            Kinda felt something like a communal-shower, towel-whip, every-junior-hockey-team-across-Canada-ass-kick, freak-fest.

Interesting doesn't do it justice. Horrific maybe, or traumatizing comes to mind... sorta.

The interesting part was watching 'all' of the people from the outside,
            ...always from the outside.

Don't really know any other way.

            ...

            good times...

            • I'm sorry. I now realize that that may have been very unsympathetic/inconsiderate of me to say. Should I have not said that?

It's normal. I've heard it once or twice. I'd say it's because I'm honest. Maybe the more honest you are, the more people realize you are a complex human being and not the static 2-d person they thought you were.

    • I wondered if honesty was part of the key. One friend said to me and another friend: "I've never met anyone like (my name). He's so honest." (The context was rather warm and we were all sharing things good and bad about life).
