Is it normal to forget important past relationships?
I've been happily married to the love of my life for over a year now.
The previous big relationship that I had prior to meeting my wife took place a few years ago and lasted about 4 years. We lived together and, at the time, assumed we were going to be together forever.
However, once we split up I realized how toxic that relationship was and how unhappy I was the entire time. I find myself trying to think of events that took place during those 4 years, good and bad, and I find it very hard to find any memories. I remember a few things, but I definitely don't have 4 years worth of memories.
Is this normal? Is my mind blocking out that time of my life because I am so happy now?
