Is it normal to find this wierd?

Why is it that when you marry someone, the person's sibling(s) become your sibling-in-laws and their parents become your mother/father-in-law? I never understood that.

Because when you marry, you are creating a family relationship through the law. You and the person you married are now legally members of eachothers families. That means that, by virtue of they law, you are now also related to their family members.

It's pretty self-explanatory...you're weird for thinking that's weird...

What's weirder is getting married in the first place. I'm being serious. What's the point? Ok, if you wanted to have kids then sure that makes sense. But why would you want to have kids? Ok, if you wanted to ruin your life and pour all resources (money, time, energy, attention) into a couple of mini-mes who will never measure up to your expectations and won't call after they move out. Yeah, ok I guess that makes sense.
