Iin, to find old fashioned typewriters to be aesthetically appealing?

First off, I'm not sexually attracted to typewriters. But for some reason, I find them to be physically appealing. I love the way the form of their bodies often curve. I love the models that have raised circular buttons. The thing I love most about them is the sound the keys make when in use. That loud but heavenly "Click-tha-TACK" sound. I find it to be very comforting and stimulating on a emotional and mental level. For the past few years, I've felt some sort of "pull" towards them and I don't know what it is...

A few months ago, I inherited an old fashioned typewriter from my grandmother. As much as I like it, I can't seem to bring myself to use it. Its not the typewriter of my dreams. I don't know what the model is but the typewriter of my dreams has a shiny black metal body. It curves in a way that is reminiscent of a woman but not overly so. The keys are raised at different heights for different rows. The buttons on the keys are circular. They are outlined in white, the middle is a vibrant black with a somewhat matte texture and the letters are white; neither too minuscule or too large. Everything is just right.

Is it normal for me to feel this way towards typewriters?

the old typewriters are pretty neat, in fact they are starting to come up in value again. My dad restored a couple of them and sold them in his junk store. We got several more now. We have to put a "dont touch" sign on them so that everyone doesnt play with them and waste the ink ribbons.

Dude, you're so out of it, that's like, way last week.

They're selling slate & chisel sets down at wal-mart. Totally uncool. I've been getting into using charcoal and plant dyes on cave walls. It's a great way to express my individuality and creativity.

Plus slate mining is like, sooo bad for the environment.

    • I am too "refined" and mysterious to be a silly hipster.

I, for one am relieved that you are NOT sexually attracted to typewriters. The thought of that makes me laugh because I'm a dumb bird.

Stuff from bygone eras exhibits a great deal more craftsmanship than the crap that's available now. Imagine buying almost anything now and saying to yourself "that's gonna last for the rest of my life".

    Impossible.

    • I write on and off. Recently, I started doing some research for one of the books I would like to write. I haven't written deep into the flesh of a plot in a long time but I feel like I can do it with this one.
