Is it normal to find it weird when men are okay with the topic of menstruation?

I guess it might be because of how I was raised but whenever I hear a guy say he's okay with girls menstruating, it seems weird. I don't like talking about it and don't enjoy having it. Saying "it's just a part of nature" just doesn't cut it.

I almost feel like it should be something for only women to talk about and sparingly. It really disturbs me when my friends talk about it so casually. It's more disturbing when guys are okay with hearing it and even promoting it. I had a boyfriend ask me about it and i was definitely creeped out.

So IIN?

You're not disgusted of your own reproductive nature?

What is he supposed to do? Just pretend it doesn't happen? Run screaming from the room every time you have a period? It's something that every woman does, and I don't understand what is "wrong" with it. You act like your ashamed of your menstrual cycle?

No but he shouldn't be just okay with it or really ask about it. It should be something unsaid. And maybe I am. It's not like its something to be proud of. It's not like your announce your farts or every time you pee or shit.

I see it as something to be proud of, you are a woman capable of amazing things! Being capable of creating another human life inside of you is nothing short of a miracle and that is part of it. Personally the period is part of the female body and it doesn't bother me a bit.

That's not amazing. It'd be amazing if we were the only species that could do it but we're not. It's nasty and disgusting.

Well then we are of differing opinions. There is nothing wrong with the way you feel, you just have to deal with the people that are more open about it, that's all.

I think it's interesting to find out how the other half of humanity experiences things. I'm not sure it's healthy for either gender to keep a mass secret from the other.

I think all things like that should be open for casual discussion. If those topics are taboo for you then I guess that is pretty normal.

It's a personal thing and makes me uncomfortable to discuss as well. I don't want to hear about other women's periods, either. At the risk of sounding heartless I think they should just deal with it.
In a sexually active relationship it's obviously gonna come up at some point, though and that's completely normal. But not just as a topic for conversation. I mean we don't go around chatting about prostates, either, do we?

You must have grown up in a prudish environment. It's not that big of a deal, get over it!
