Is it normal to feel things in a sudden rush?

Sometimes I go weeks and months without thinking about things that bother me and then something triggers it and ALL of it comes back all at once.
And these are everyday things.
Like the guilt it treating my mom baldy (she deserves every bit of it though, so no worries), not talking to my friends, not getting things done, etc.
When it's happening I don't really feel anything.
But in those times everything I was supposed(?) to feel comes in a rush.
Just wondering if this happens to others.

It depends on the feeling. With regret it's normal to not feel it instantly. Usually in the moment things are heated and you're angry and say things without thinking. Then when you had time to calm down you might realise you hurt somebody.
It's not even about whether or not they "deserved it". It's about you having been a person you don't want to be. It's good to feel this way. It helps you learn self control.

    • It comes long after I've calmed down. Like weeks later.
And it's not just regret. It's pretty much everything. Anger, sorrow even happiness sometimes.
Like when my hamster died, I was just like okay. And started crying about it after 3 weeks.

If you're worried about it you should probably talk to a professional.
But for grief it's also normal to only set in later, after the famous denial phase. It's also normal to not always be aware of the good things in life. Then sometimes you have a moment where you see the beauty all around and feel bliss. Emotions are weird and irrational. They aren't predictable like a computer program.

Then again their also the result of a very fragile balance of chemicals in your body, so it can't hurt to talk to a therapist to find out if you need help.
