Is it normal to feel the need to act 'hard', or tough, when i'm outside?

Hi

So, to cut the long story short, i was brought up in a..bad neighbourhood of London for 16 years of my life, and i moved up here, around Gloucestershire (a nice, more posh county) when i was 17, im now 18, and still feel like im in London, so i put on the natural defense which i was brought up with growing up there. Is this normal? I very much want to grow out of this, and want to grow up so to speak, but i keep thinking i need to put on this front.
How can i help myself?

Thanks very much.

Well it sounds perfectly normal for someone who was raised in a harsh environment and found a way to adapt that worked for them. You will find it getting easier as time goes on. If your comfortable with who you are, you will mature on your own. I found that the more you try to 'lasso' or tame yourself, the harder it gets to really grow up. Be comfortable with who you are and you will see growth within yourself. Good luck
