Is it normal to feel scatterbrained and absentminded when in social situations?

When I was in places such as Times Square or at a family party my mind was all over the place. This is especially true when I am in busy and loud places. It doesn't happen all the time. For instance, I was at a wedding the other day and it was pretty damn loud and busy, but I was comfortable because I had someone to talk to.

This may induce a headache, but it is more a symptom of disorganization rather than pain.

I got that whilst in Time Square. Although to be fair I am more used to sleepy English villages than that crazy place. So many people yet none of them seemed to notice the other :/

I dont think there is anything wrong with you, I dont like being in highly populated places ether, but im sure if you exposed youself to them more that you would grow more and more comfortable ,but who would want to do that

Maybe a bit of auto specrtrum disorder..but not unusual. I don't like being in brightly lit and crowded places...don't mind a crowd in soft lghting, but not noisy..hate noisy. Noise is the reason that so many places that used to be places of talking..and socialising have now gone all wrong..loud music stops people being able to talk and makes them stay away or act crazy to get some sort of attention.

  • Sensory overload! Totally normal, especially if a cacophony of noise and visual stimuli is not a daily experience for you.
