Is it normal to feel like your parents are bored of you

Whenever I speak I get cut off. Whenever I get to say anything in public my parents look at me as if they're bored out of their minds, even when others listen to me with interest.

All my life I've talked very little, because of this.
I feel like nothing I have to say is good enough to be said. However, the more I speak with my friends and dare to open up, I get the impression that I'm NOT as boring or stupid, as I have been made to feel.

Is it normal for parents to be like that toward their son?

Thanks for reading, and hopefully replying.

Some people were never meant to be parents. That they made a child in a moment of stupidity or passion does not change this fact.
It is a hard job and many, many parents just aren't up to the patience and effort required and do a really crappy job.
You'll be out of the house soon, so be patient and try not to let your parents' shortcomings as parents fuck you up completely.

It's very normal, but that doesn't make it okay ..
I won't be seeing any of my blood relatives this holiday season, by choice.
Also, it's highly possible that you are perceiving their actions or words towards you a totally different way then how they could actually mean it.
Have you talked to either of your parents about this?
They might have something more meaningful to say than us. :0
Try to give them a chance to explain themselves before you start resenting them.
Parents suck sometimes, but they won't be around forever, so try to cherish them, even with the bullshit they throw your way. :)

My sister does this with her daughter. I think your parents are idiots and if they're not interested in what you have to say don't talk to them, if they need to talk they can come to you.

I came to the sameconclusion in my teens, but I'm sure you know, how desperately a kid wants his parent's aproval or just a little acknownlegdement. Stuff this gives a guy issues.

Yeah I definitely can see it with my niece, which is hard since she's only four. So the rest of my family and myself try to compensate for the lack of affection my sister gives her. You're not boring and someone will appreciate the things you have to say, just don't let their opinion stop you from speaking up.
