Is it normal to feel like i am being treated better as a blonde?

I don't normally change my hair color but recently I made the decision to appear more professional to get a better job (and it worked) and I colored my hair from an obviously unnatural fire engine red to a far more natural looking blonde color.

Now I am sure that there are a million other factors that play into this but it seems as if from day one, I have been treated differently. Women seem to appear more comfortable speaking to me and men seem to act a lot more kindly toward me. More eye contact, nicer tone of voice, I feel as if I am even receiving better customer service from places that would normally hardly pay me the time of day. I spoke to a woman who had gone from blonde to red and she told me, more or less, that I was right in the treatment being different.

At the risk of sounding like a snobby bitch, I must ask... Is it normal that I feel that I am being treated better as a blonde?

there have been studies done on this, in general blonde women and people with blue eyes are considered more attractive to most and thus get treated better.

There was a restaurant that ended up in the news and getting in trouble a few years back because they only hired waitresses with blonde hair and blue eyes because it brought in more customers. And that was the actually reason it wasn't the owner being racist, they actually realized they got more customers by doing that.

The blonde research is western biased, I find Asian girls with black hair (80% Asians have black hair) most attractive, but I do love blue eyes. Black haired blue eyed combo girls are the best for me and my fav are Taiwanese girls, they are so hot and sexy :D...

    • Yep, I have the blue eyes as well. I colored my hair after reading such studies but didn't think it would be such a night and day difference in practical application. I figured it would be one of those subtle, barely noticeable, subliminal things. Guess not XD

    It's wonderful you're having a great experience.

Personally, the idea of treating people better over hair, eye color, clothes, etc are odd to me. I can't look at a beautiful blonde guy/girl with emerald/blue eyes, and just immediately trust them or treat them any better, because until I get to know him/her, that person is still a stranger who is capable of who knows what.

Bartender friend of mine is very beautiful, with blonde or light-blonde hair. Guys love her and tip her well. She went dark once, still very beautiful face, but definitely didn't get the attention, or tips, she got as her natural blonde. Had to wait for the dark to lighten before coloring it back to regular blonde. Still says doing the darker dye job was a mistake. Most regular customers, like myself, agree. We like her as the hot blonde.

It's normal. I've been treated nicer since I lost weight. Let me make a post saying that I feel treated worse for styling my hair in an afro rather than straight and all hell breaks loose. 'Noooo you're just crazy.'

I prefer brunettes with brown eyes myself. It might be confirmation bias.
