Is it normal to feel guilty when you kill bugs?

I hate bugs, they disgust me, but I still don't harm them. I know they're not really cognitive or anything, but still. I have a lizard that eats crickets and I feel bad every time I feed them to him, lol.

I avoid hurting bugs as well, if I can help it. They attempt to avoid death, so obviously there is some level of negative stimulation that the bug feels when it's being harmed. I think everything alive has intrinsic value. It would be irresponsible of us as humans if we began to disregard other species completely.

Well, I kill bugs every chance I can get, but I'm probably not quite "normal" in the head.

Lol, to make it even worse, I don't even dislike bugs or have a phobia of them--I just like killing them.

Probably not a good sign, and definitely not a charming one.

It sounds like this directly contradicts the title of this post...

    • How? I have a phobia of them, but I respect them as living creatures.

But if you don't kill them, how can you feel guilty about killing them?

        • One, it happens by accident sometimes. They die easily. Two, as I said I have to feed them to my lizard. I don't directly kill them in that situation, but still.

yes, i go out of my way to avoid killing bugs, even it means i get bitten by mosquitoes or stung by bees, if there is no reason to kill them, i let them escape. Silly, maybe, but i try not to kill them.

This question has been asked before, but that's okay, I'll let it slide, a lot of people don't bother to search before they post. But if you want to read some other people's comments on this topic, just type "kill bugs" into the search bar.

No worries - I bite food not people. You're safe with me, unless you're a spider.

I hate ugly or biting bugs and don't feel bad for killing them. Butterflies and crickets and stuff I leave alone. Basically if it bites or infests I kill it!

I don't feel guilty about killing them. If I see one of the bitey ones like bird mites, chiggers, flies, fleas, spiders, ants, mosquitoes, and lice, I kill them with no guilt whatsoever. Roaches don't bite, but I'm more than willing to stomp those too. XD

The worst I ever felt was when I accidentally killed a baby praying mantis on my shoulder.
