Is it normal to feel guilty

I love all creatures, great and small...but I just Bruce Banner hulk smashed a nasty cockroach. For the record, I'm not a vegetarian, for delicious bacon related reasons. I'm not against hunting either. However, for some reason, when I have to do the deed myself, even when it pertains to a bacteria ridden, nasty, shit eating little bug, I still feel guilty. IIN?

  • It's normal. I've been trying to not kill bugs if it isn't necessary. I have no problem killing something parasitic or poisonous because it's self defense, but I try to move harmless bugs outside rather than smashing them.

Last night I noticed a trail of ants coming through the wall and instead of killing them off I looked up how to chase them back outside. I used a mix of cinnamon and garlic, which doesn't hurt them but pisses them off and sprinkled it around their trail and came back in an hour and they were gone.

I caught a spider that was invading the flat. Normally I kill them when they are in my space, and leave them alone if I'm in there space (outside)
But I caught this spider that looked ferocious but it was harmless and through it outside.
I just couldn't kill the little guy. Caught him bare handed with no idea if he bit or not. Just felt guilty cause he was scared and running a crossed the floor, I was just relaxing on a sofa.. Why not save a life?

      • That's good. I've been trying to relocate the bugs back outside. If I'm a bug in another life I hope someone does the same.

So do I. Even if I get eaten by a bat as soon as the human lets me go, I'll be thankful for the extra chance at life. But thats hypothetical

It's okay, I'm sure it laid a few hundred eggs before it died so they'll be plenty more.
