I don't know about the rest of the world but I feel totally embarrassed to cross the street in a busy cross walk. When the sign says to walk, I find myself looking down and I won't dare to look at the drivers looking at me. I can't tell if I feel guilty for making them wait or what.
I'm like you... I'm afraid that people will think bad things about me. I think I may have agoraphobia thought.
Imagine what you think about strangers you see crossing the street. That's all other people think of you. Nothing scary.
I'm like that too. I always comment or think things about the people crossing in front of me, so I always assume when I'm the one crossing that people are doing the same.
I feel like a doofus standing around *waiting* for my chance to go, but once I can walk, I don't think about it anymore.
Have you ever driven a car? Do you harbor hostile feelings towards pedestrians who cross at stoplights? I've driven for many many years, and I can tell you the only feeling I have for pedestrians is the sense that I better keep a tight foot on the brake, because I don't want them to get hit or hurt. When I'm in a car, I feel like it's part of my "job" as a responsible driver to look out for and protect the pedestrians around me, and I'm pretty sure most other people feel that way, too.

but i just got this phobia and it haunts me :[
i feel eactly the same way, but its not only on a busy crosswalk, its also when theres no one on the sidewalk, just the drivers, im always scared that they'll b thinking something bad about me, so i keep my head down :P
If they are looking at you its because there is nothing else to do. They can't drive and you are probably the only thing moving.
I have the same thing though...
lol, i think this is completely normal.
i always get uneasy, and somewhat embarrassed while crossing the street. or even walking down the sidewalk. i always try to keep my head down, and not look at the person/group of people.

I do the EXACT same thing. I don't know what it is but sometimes when I'm crossing I just get this embarrassed feeling. It even happens when I'm in a food court by myself or waiting for a friend to order. I can't help but to feel everyone is staring at me >.<
XD I feel the same way! I don't want everyone looking at me, so I hate crossing the street when it's busy. Totally normal.
Screw them YOU have to walk at like what 3 MPH max? They can drive ant like 100MPH they should feel the way you do not the other way around
