Is it normal to feel depressed during day if i dont get enough sleep?

Hey Everyone.
I have mild health anxiety, which means that sometimes I start freaking out and thinking Im gonna die or that I have some serious health problem, even though it doesnt happen everyday, when it does happen, I cant control myself. Im usually ok even If I get nervous when I experience pain or discomfort but If I dont get enough sleep, these feelings just grow a lot stronger and I think something bad will happen so I have a hard time trying to 'go back to reality'. I feel sick and helpless and it makes me depressed but if I get enough sleep I generally dont think about those things!

Low blood sugar, not enough sleep, chemical imbalances are all physical reasons for depression. And easily cured, especially the first two.

Eating any carbohydrate will increase energy levels in the short-term and may relieve a headache, but you can't put off sleep for anything.

Sleep deprivation is a serious condition. Because it's so "normal" by today's fast-paced standards, most people ignore it. Some people are markedly more negatively affected by it, however. Not only your mental well-being, but your physical well-being could be compromised too. Your immune system DOES NOT like missing sleep. Screw what other people demand of you, prioritize sleep and your body will thank you for it.

You've just described the same problems that i have! I feel relieved knowing that i'm not the only one that feels like that, because everytime i try to explain to someone how it feels they call me crazy and stuff like that... Anyways, i'm going through a bad week, i've had 3 panic attacks only this past week, and i'm freaking out, i feel like i'm sick all the time and can't control my thoughts into thinking that i'm dying, it's horrible! Im trying to get over it again :S i hope you're doing better!

    • I hope you're feeling better already :) Im feeling a little bit better, thanks, but Ive had rough weeks as well... People talk as if this was nothing, no one takes me seriously. Only I know what I go through... its just me and my brain. But im also happy to know im not the only one :) When im alright, i always think 'how could I let myself believe id die' but when anxiety strikes again, it seems so possible... I hope this gets better with time. For me, for you and everyone that has to go through this

Depression can be caused for a multitude of reasons. Not enough sleep is one of them. It's easily cured, however. So yes, it's normal.
