Is it normal to feel close to a fictional character from ones childhood?

Since as long as I can remember, I've been playing Spyro, almost religiously if I can. It was one of thise games I just couldn't get tired of. Even the current games, they didn't seem like they'd be up to par like the classic games. Regardless, I still played cuz' of Spyro.

It was recently though, when that new Skylanders game came out, which I wanted nothing to do with. I was over at the games section in Wal-Mart, wasting time, looking it over. It wasn't 'till then that I realized it was a Spyro game. Upon seeing him, I started to get hot amd flustered, and had to move away from to display. Ever since then, whenever I think of him, I can't help but imagine him and me together.
