Is it normal to feed pets i don't have?

So this morning I had the strangest thought. I was thinking "I better go to the store to get snake food. They're probably really hungry since I've been in Florida all week."
Upon getting ready to go to the store I realized "wait a minute... I don't have any snakes." Not only that but I went to Florida months ago. I decided not to go to the store.

Does anyone else get these thoughts?

I don't really get what your saying in this post.

I do, however, like to put out bird seed for the birds that visit my garden. I also want to put out something for the wild rabbits in my neighborhood, because they're all over the place and I love them.

    • there were no snake but for some reason I was thinking I had snakes and was in flordia when I actually went in janurary. I must have dreamed it or something and confused it for happening.

Dreaming could be it. That's happened to me lots of times. Last week I was confused as to how the large rock chip in my windshield had disappeared. The other two were still there but the golfball-sized one was gone. It was never there in the first place, I think I dreamt it a couple of days earlier.

Maybe she had snakes in a past life or was Cleopatra...she misses her pets...or they are haunting her.

    • I got up and started my day. It was still within 30 minutes. Often my dreams will blur with this world and I get them confused.

If that's what you mean then I get that all the time when my dreams are vivid. Sometimes, even by the end of the day, I'm still not quite sure whether they happened or not.

No, but I get dreams like that pretty often, usually about mice or gerbils but sometimes rabbits or birds, I've forgotten about for months or years but are somehow alive and reproducing, living under my bed or in my closet, but I usually remember pretty quickly after waking up that I have no pets here anymore..
I do feed pets that aren't my own though, when i go to the animal shelter I like to sneak in pieces of lunch meat to share with the cats...

    • I have very similar recurring pet dreams. I get the same ones about pets I forgot and think I have to feed them. Sometimes its about past ones I had, and sometimes it's about ones I never had. Usually it's old fish or frogs that I think I have been forgetting to feed because I've had those a lot.
