Is it normal to fear parental reaction to getting <a> piercing(s)?

My fear is that my parents will do something extreme, such as disowning me, (as a 24, <soon to be 25> y/o guy, still living at home if I was to get an ear (or two) pierced while they are gone this next week..? Been considering it for a LONG time, and I know that if I don't, I will not have another oppertunity to do so for some time...

That, and I work at a Jewish org, that is pretty conservative in nature, however I have had a coworker that was a (black) guy, and who had two bent downward silver "bar" earrings in his left ear (not closed, but with some type of a closure on each end... That and he wore his hair in dreds...)

I also worry even if it/they were super tame in nature, that my grandmother would also shit a chicken if/when she will come over at a point also this week/end, before they come home by next Tuesday...

Any idea what I should do..? Also moving out is not an option at this point, however have thought about that, and it isn't realistic at this point

No earring is worth your livelihood. You are beholden to your parents while they provide you room and board.

That is true, however the last time I talked to them about this was when I was 16-18, and I was in middle, or early on in high school back then...

If your a grown up you should be able to get your ears pierced. That said if its going to make you homeless or whatever then maybe reconsider. Why is getting pierced such a big issue for you?

It just is... No idea really how to explain it, past that I like the way that it'd look. That and I have TBH done it to myself once or twice, in an "unsterile" manner, and I want to finally just do it...

*when I did that, I at one point had one of hers tbh (cleaned with alcohol,) and another time later on I had bought a set of walmart cheapie studs, (same sterilization technique) and just pushed one/both through... They were never in for more than an evening at most with the last time, and it just feels like it's just "time." IDK how else to describe it...

Sounds to me like you think its going to some how make your life better but the blunt truth is you will still be you but with holes in your ears. Nothing in your life is going to magically change except possibly the repercussions from your family. No one that likes you is going to really care and ppl that don't know you or like you aren't going to be impressed or change how they feel.

If you really want them and think its going to be some kind of awesome then get some clip on or magnetic ones that you don't need body modification to wear and watch as nothing is spectacularly different in your life.

You know what, I appreciate how you put that, and that you may have just talked me out of a possible BIG mistake... Thank you!

**and it wouldnt necessarily lead to me being kicked out, however I can only imagine the amount of bullshit that I would take from my Dad alone...

You think they would be that mad? Idk your parents but my reaction would be between mildly annoyed to not caring at all about my kids piercings, hairstyle etc.

Yeah, is not that they would be "mad," though the amount of bullshit that I would undoubtedly take from at least my Dad/his side of the family would be gianormous... Esp bc my bro's grad party is less than a month away, when entierety of fam will be there, plus work associates of his from overseas... Just ain't worth it at this point anyway... Maybe after my bro moves out to his new job outta state..?
