Is it normal to expect sympathy from partner for everyday hurts and pains??

I am not expecting a big show of sympathy from my boyfriend when an everyday kind of accident happens, like I bang into something or so -but I do expect that he acknowledges or sympathises a little bit when something does happen...

Like yesterday for example; I banged into the bed-frame at night when going to bed (and it really hurt so much I was jumping around the room for a bit...)

...I then expect from him that he either says something like "ow that hurts" or "are you okay?" or "poor you" or alternatively gives me a hug or a pat as a gesture – any sign that he “feels for me” really would be fine too -as long as it's not nothing.

He thinks such trivial small hurts and pains are not worth making a fuss about because they are self-inflicted and the pain goes away again in a few minutes anyway... for me though, it just helps/makes me feel instantly better if someone feels or shows a little bit of compassion for my “misery” ;)

...is it normal to expect sympathy for from your boyfriend/girlfriend for everyday hurts and pains??

Do you give him sympathy when he gets hurt? Try doing that and see if he copies you
