Is it normal to eat condiments?

I'm dating someone who likes to eat condiments. He habitually eats spoonfuls of ketchup, relish, mustard, pasta sauce etc all day. I've seen him eat an entire bowl of barbecue sauce like it was soup.

I know condiments are pretty bad for you; for the most part they are acidic and loaded with sugar, but, aside from this habit, he has a healthy diet. I just think it's weird...as...fuck. Who eats condiments like they are a food item, wtf???

IIN?

I used to eat the ketchup packets from McDonald's as if my mouth was making love to them. So, GOOD it was!

In fact, ketchup is one of the healthiest foods produced. It would be a very good idea to eat a tablespoon a day. Many other condiments are not bad for you, though they may have little nutritional value. Your friend seems a bit odd in his eating habits, but there are certainly much odder and destructive behaviors out there.

I call bullshit! Ketchup contains at least four grams of sugar per tablespoon and the sodium level is sky high. It's inly redeeming factor is lycopene, which you can get through tomato concentrates - but there are far healthier ways to include tomato concentrate in your diet.

Yeah, and you're going to have a tablespoon of tomato concentrates every day?
Be real. Ketchup is easy, tasty and cheap way to get some pretty exceptional health benefits. But of course, YOU may eat tomato paste if you prefer.

I like to make homemade pasta sauce, homemade tomato soup and homemade Bloody Marys - there are other ways, sailor!

It seems like a whole lot of work to make homemade pasta sauce, homemade tomato soup every day, when one little tablespoon of ketchup will give you the same health benefits. As for the "homemade Bloody Marys", I really do not have the time to make vodka every day, nor the desire. Isn't there a whole shit pot of sugar in alcohol, anyway, so we're right back to the beginning. I do believe you've made my original point for me, thanks.

Well you're right back at the beginning with the bonus of being drunk.

Good homemade tomato sauce takes very little effort and very few ingredients
