Is it normal to dump friends who don't have cars

I get tired of dealing with people who can't control their finances and give up their car. In my experience, people without cars waste others time. I am in an area where it is not designed for walking.

My reaction as well. "What? why would someone be so cruel as to dump their friends without ears?"

People Without Ears Lives Matter! Dammit!!

People have various circumstances. Rather than judge them for what they don't have, maybe judge their character instead (since you seem to think that a lack of cars indicates bad financial habits).

If giving up their car is a result of that, then feel free to dump them; your life.

    • With all do respect plutopurity, having, purchasing and maintaining a car are things people in industrialized nations do when in adolescence (or when legal age of driving is) want to do in order to transition to adulthood (with few exceptions). If you lived say thirty miles away from your job, you would want to have reliable transportation. It's also a sign of responsibility along with freedom of travel. Mommy and daddy can't tote you around everywhere you go and I am pretty sure most people can agree that a significant other would not be too happy about doing that either.
I am always amazed people have kids but no vehicle. Blows me away.

What is "plutopurity" and why are you so bothered by other people's choices which are none of your business?

  • I have a friend who can be quite burdensome because he always asks for rides, well he expects them! And it annoys that feel so entitled to my services! He’s never on time , and its rare for him to say thank you.

The funny part is he has a car but is afraid to drive it. I partially pity him, but I’m getting close to ditching him.

How would you feel about asking your friend for gas money?

          • Odd because nobody in our group asks for him money. Plus I would feel some guilt.

Yes, it's normal but only if the friend is taking advantage of the car owner.

No one wants to play taxi.
Yeah it bites when one doesn't have their own car but that doesn't mean others want to be burdened.

I have four cars and one company car XD
I also live in Germany, so that means I'm officially insane for buying more than one car in a place with endless public transport opportunities, but I hate public transport and love cars, so here they are:

W203 2005 C220 diesel Mercedes (only driven in summer)
W211 2006 E420 diesel Mercedes (only driven in summer)
W205 2017 C350e hybrid (Driven mostly on weekends)
E24 1984 635CSI BMW (US-spec) (project car, doesn't run yet, but does start)

Company car is a W220 S400 diesel Mercedes I daily, to keep the other cars newer and with less miles and even cut down on car costs a bit XD

Two more cars and I'll have my dream garage, hopefully before I'm 30. XD

No thanks XD. I have a loving girlfriend, we've been together for 2 years now. Probably gonna think about proposing in the near future, but until then I need to save up some cash. Cars ain't cheap, even if 3 of mine are registered back home in Bulgaria with less horsepower than they actually have to pay less taxes...

But I do need a new set of shock absorbers for my BMW project car and possibly a sports spring lowering kit XD

          they tax yall by hp?

          id be fucked

also they still uses hp in europe? i figured itd be kw

Actually, we use both hp and kw (weirdly)

Tho all of my cars are registered as their pre-facelift (less-powerful) variants... Got a friend in the DMV. She registered my E420 and my 6-series as less powerful.
My E420 has 314hp stock, (380 modded) but is registered with the specs of an E320 (211hp)
My 6-series is registered with the pre-facelift specs.
Cops in Bulgaria will never notice the difference between model updates, or know the specs of every Mercedes engine.

So it's a win-win. I get cool, powerful cars, and spare over 150 Euros a year!

OP doesn't do that to other people, but apparently some people do that to OP.

Hey Zombs, you'll need ears for this one. Since few here have your level of intelligence, and even fewer understand the nuances of superior music, I found a piano piece for you that is a nice blend of complexity and structure. Halfway through, it breaks into a counter-punctual melody that punches out unbelievable energy. Crank it thru a sound system, if you have one. The accompaniment will glitter in your ears with occasional 3 against 4 rhythms.

Damn. It's a masterpiece flying under the radar.

Some people try to learn to drive , and can't do it. I tried to learn to drive so bad, and I still can't do it. It's embarrassing and frustrating. I finally gave up.

I get where you're coming from only because when I was in high school/college I had friends who were too fucking lazy to go get their license. They'd always ask me to come pick them up to the point where If I refused they would get pissed, like they're entitled to me chauffeuring them around everywhere.

Is there no such thing as public transport in the usa? I live in a small town out of the city where most people do need cars, but plenty of people who live in the inner city don't have cars because they don't need them for daily transport and can always hire one for longer trips.

    • Public transportation is highly unreliable in the States. Buses show up 20 minutes late and the stops have little logic to their placement. Come and visit sometime.

No thanks, not on my list of places I want to go to, there's still too much of my own country I want to see. So no trains or trams? Public transport here isn't perfect but it runs fairly to schedule most of the time - buses and trains and trams - and is so well patronised it's often overflowing with passengers.

        • Not everywhere in the U.S. is designed like New York City Ellenna. I know you don't live in the States but there are rural areas in the U.S. that don't have trains and trams at all. The U.S. isn't like European countries that have public transportation widely available. As I said before, you should come visit, but more specifically the interior of the country where it is sparsely populated and is more rural.
