Is it normal to dislike your husbands friends and relatives?

I have never liked them, but felt compelled to befriend them because of my husband. The nicer I was to them, the worse they treated me.

I moved here where my husband lived and didn't know anyone. Maybe I was nervous and came off a little desperate, but they were unkind to me. How should I deal with them?

If you like any of them consider yourself lucky. Most people don't like or end up not liking their in laws. I'm ok with my husbands mom but the rest of them suck and his friends are boring.
He had one awesome friend but he died. Just see them occasionally they are easier to take in small doses.

Maybe it's a sign that you picked the wrong guy to marry?

If it's a couple here and there that's one thing, but if you're having problems with nearly all of his family and friends that not a good sign. What are his feelings about the way they treat you? Does he make excuses for them? Is he asking you to change who you are for them?

Are you a newlywed without any kids yet? I wouldn't give it more than a year. I also wouldn't get in a hurry to make babies with him either. There's no sense in living a life of misery with someone you just might discover you were incompatible with from the start. If it's alright I'm curious to know if there are any major cultural, socio- economic or educational differences between you and your husband.

I'm not saying it can't work, but I left my second ex husband after three months and I have no regrets!

Put on a brave front for the sake of your marriage and do not complain about them to him. No need to see them any more than you absolutely must, but when you must, be civil and eat crow. You could always get a gym membership and kick the living shit out of a punching bag when you need to hit someone.
