Is it normal to dislike my own mother?

Yes, I know that there are actually a lot of people who hate their mothers, but here it's not about hate... I simply don't like her character; she's a close-minded person wanting to look like an open-minded one, but she's a racist first of all, travelling abroad, talking with people from abroad or going to festivals are unknown things to her and according to her, I do these because I like to show off, she seemed like she was jealous of me when I started to work because she doesn't and in general, words that I have heard from her have caused me a lot of pain. I can't say I "hate" her, but I dislike her as a person and sometimes, I see children with mothers I know and admire and feel sad I can't have a mother like them... it's like mine is exactly what I would never even choose for a person to have around me...

My Dad was a racist. I got older and found out for myself that most all people were no mater what the color. In any race you will find good and bad. And what is the color of a persons soul?

    • I'm not a teenager and as I mentioned twice, I don't "hate" her... hate is a powerful word and feeling.

In that case, you could probably answer that question yourself.

If your mother has treated you badly and just has a bit of an old fashioned view, then yes negative feelings are normal. My mother was similar and as a teenager personally I didn't like her that much but started to understand her a little more when I reached early 20's

Going from what your saying she just sounds a little old fashioned, which is sad but...sort of...get over it....

No one is perfect, she still got up all those times in the night and went through pregnancy and childbirth for you.

I think so but I don't hate my mom. There's things about her I strongly dislike but I've learned to tolerate over time. Everytime I see something on tv where the child is getting absused or something, I actually appreciate her. My dad said something awfully racist one time but my mother never did.
