Is it normal to cut out & keep "good specimen" letters of your own handwriting?
When I write something on paper, if I make a perfect curve on a loop (the lower loop on a "y", for example"), or an otherwise beautiful letter or number, I feel compelled to circle it and later cut it out and keep it as a "specimen". I keep these in envelopes and folders, etc, but I don't think I have ever taken them out to admire them once they are put away.
However, (especially at work), after circling a letter, but when I still need the document (and therefore can't yet cut out the letter), I gaze at it and admire it while I'm doing other things, like talking on the phone or while waiting for someone or something.
If I come across a great specimen in something I wrote earlier and I can't cut it out for some reason (for example, it's some sort of official form that has to be submitted), it makes me feel uncomfortable or even sad, like I'm throwing something valuable away.
I have absolutely no urge to cut out, or even circle, perfect letters written by anyone else.
