"What did my text say? I texted you just to make sure you didn't give me a fake number."

This was said in a group setting right after a girl gave a guy her number (which he requested). Everyone in the group seemed to have a straight face on, but I was internally cringing. IIN?

    I don't think this is weird at all. Did I misinterpret this? Seems like the guy is making sure he didn't get a bum number.
