Is it normal to constantly check when he was last online

There is a guy whom I've been texting with for almost a year, we talk every other day and sometimes I constantly check when he was last seen online just for the hell of it but not actually text him because I don't want to annoy him. If he's online my heart breaks because I worry he's probably talking to someone better. is it normal I do this

    I can identify with you. It never ends well. He'll think you are crazy and try to stay as far away from you as possible. If you two already in a serious relationship (whatever that means) it is not "normal" to check when he was last online.

    If you were a detective or private investigator however...

    All of it is normal. It only becomes abnormal if you let it eat your mind too much.
