Is it normal to change your high behavior after smoking for a long time?

When I first started smoking pot I would get really hungry and laugh realllllllly hard all the time. I just loved kickin it with friends and smoking when we were bored. Now in college I smoke mostly bc I relate more often to kids who smoke weed, but the problem is now I become really quiet and socially awkward when im high, it freaks me out. Now i dont know what to do bc Im bad at hanging out with straight edge kids bc they seem immature and boring. It may seem that i use the word immature, but they are these people that just seem absolutely controlled by their parents every want, and thats immaturity in my book.

Thanks both of you. And yeah Shackleford, ive actually done the same thing in the past quarter or two by cutting down by about 90%. But that worsens the awkwardness even more after taking a break then smoking since I become like 90% more high hahaha.

Don't be so quick to judge those "straight edge" kids. I used to be a stoner, but I gave that stuff up (of my own free will, not because of my parents) so I could focus on my education.

I had the same problem. I was a huge huge stoner from about grade 9-12. Then when I went to University it started to change. I started feeling anxious and uncomfortable, especially if I wasn't with my closest friends. I still kept smoking quite a bit and continued until about half way through my Summer when I just decided to completely stop.
It ended up being some of the best times of my life. My social confidence came back ten-fold and it was as though nothing fazed me. I also took up meditation which filled the void of relaxation left by the Pot.
Anyways, it's been a few years, and I smoke more now than did then, but I mostly go in fazes.
All in all, it's just time to take a good break. You probably will never be a heavy smoker again, but it feels great to discover yourself as a non smoker. There is no shame in change.

like most drugs, weed can work for a period of time then stop working. if you are no longer getting a benefit from it, it's time to stop. maybe just for a while, maybe for good. there is a lot of life to enjoy without it. i smoked it for years and years, but now really prefer life without it. it's just part of getting older i guess.

Idk when I get high it's exactly the opposite. People I would have never talked to before become like close freinds and I don't care what I say around them when I'm high.

That seems pretty normal, I'm kind of the same way. I only like to smoke with my closest friends or alone... if I'm with people I don't know very well I feel super awkward, haha. Among people I know it seems like they go one way or the other-- either they hate smoking with people they don't know well, or they can't relate to new people without being high. Kinda strange.

Maybe you could try hanging out with the stoner kids but not actually smoking with them, or find one friend you're really comfortable with who can help you through the social awkwardness.
