Is it normal to buy something for the clerk, just because you're bummed?

Okay, here's the story. I was planning on meeting a friend I hadn't seen in a long while. She's kinda cute and nice so I've had the thought of hooking up with her if it leads to that. Anyway, we had some miscommunication and lack of communication which lead me to waiting an hour for her. I later saw that she messaged me saying that she was going to be an hour late, but it was too late because I headed home. After that I went to a dollar store to help cope with my sadness. The clerk asked me if I had tried some candy before, because she wanted to know if it was good. So without really thinking I asked her which kind. I bought it and said "here you go". Now, mind you I wasn't really motivated by trying to flirt with her, I just did it because I wanted to make someone else happy that day. Needless to say, she was surprised. Is it normal to do that when you're bummed?

After that I went to a dollar store to help cope with my sadness.

Why did that line make me laugh so hard?

I shall have to try this dollar store coping mechanism. It kind of makes sense. The shopping relieves stress with a lower chance of overspending.

Wish going to the dollar store helped ME cope with MY sadness as opposed to, you know, drugs, sex and alcohol.

      Oh who am I kidding?
      Furious masturbation.

It's normal to do occasional nice things for other people.

Stop over-analysing your every action. This shouldn't have been a question needing an answer.

Call the girl you were suppose to meet up with and see if she wants to hang again, this time make sure you got the times right. Honestly try asking her out, make it into a date if you like this girl.

It's WONDERFUL to do things that are seemingly random and "small" for others when you're feeling down. You would be amazed that you can brighten someone's day just by holding a door open, saying "thanks" ....and it takes such little effort.

In the Bible it says to not announce your acts of kindness. I'm not religious, but it's still good advice.

    In short, STFU.

Aw, aren't you just the nicest person. Good on you, doing something nice for somebody without expecting something in return.
A rare and decent person you are.

Pfft. He was totally pushin for a bj. C'mon, he bought her candy!
And to think, she was gonna do it, but he walked out to soon.

What we have here is a failure to communicate.

Come on little girl, I have some candy for you. It's right here in my van, along with this puppy I found. Want to help me find it's owner?
        Is that what I missed?
