Is it normal to bite off and eat my finger and toe nails?

Ever since I was a toddler I loved to chew on my finger and toe nails and eat them. Even to this day (22 currently) I still chew on and eat my nails. Sometimes I'l even rip nails out of my feet to eat them. I don't mind the blood or occasional infection because I can manage it and I've never had a problem with it. My toe nails have become largely ingrown and thick now. They are discolored as well and my finger nails are thinner than usual. Is it normal to do this? If not, what help do I need and how do I get it?

yes I too have the urge to keep all my finger and toenails short. For some reason I cant stand long nails dont know why I have just accepted it is who I am.

I completely understand those urges and yes I bite my finger nails, toe nails, the skin around the nails, my lips, and eat them too. It's a bad habit I know but I really can't help it. It's gotten bad a few times where I got some serious infection due to leaving my toes bloody and I just couldn't be bothered most of the times to be honest. My finger and toe nails are ugly now and it's my insecurity. But let them call us freaks, honestly, I don't care.
