Is it normal to believe this guy is an ok doctor?

So I went to the doctor for a check up yesterday. He did my blood pressure and pulse. Checked my ox levels in both hands and he hit my knee with that little rubber hammer. Looked in my eyes and felt around in my abdomen.
Then he said, "Well, you are alive."
I said, "Are you sure?"
"Pretty sure." he said. I left. That is all he said to me during the whole visit.
is it normal to believe this guy is an ok doctor?

      Haven't you ever been to a doctor who felt around on (in) your abdomen to see if anything in there was swollen or out of place? It's common with doctors who actually understand what's in there and are experienced enough to be able to tell if something's amiss. I don't find young doctors do it at all, rather relying on x-rays or other expensive equipment for the info, and padding the bill.

        Yeah, sorry, I was just being silly about the doctor being "in" someone's stomach without surgery. I totally agree with you about all the tests: there's been discussion recently here in Australia about how many unnecessary tests are done, most of which are paid for by the taxpayer via our public health system.

        Obviously some are necessary, but a lot of them are not. A local doctor where I live once sent someone off for a bowel cancer test because of an itchy & occasionally bleeding anus: turned out to be piles, but she didn't even look!

    I went to a doctor something like this recently when my usual doc was on holiday. The guy at the local hardware store would have done a better job. Never again.
