Is it normal to believe that people only deserve as much as they do for others?

I'm a firm believer in this, but of course if there's a person in danger, I'd help that person and not ask for anything in return. If I have a friend who only comes around and treats me out to dinner once a year, I do the same only once a year. If my friend helps me water the plants once a month, I'll water his/her plants once a month. I do this for everything (Except urgent things).

Is this normal? (And please don't troll and say things along the lines of, " If you blew him, would you ask him to blow you back too? ")

It's very normal, and there's nothing wrong with it. 20
It's very normal. I believe in this mentality too. 7
It's not normal, and you're being narrow-minded. 11

I think it's normal but I don't believe in it at all. There's no such thing as "deserving", in reality - only if you decide to think that way.

I BELIEVE IN KARMA!!! I barley finished telling another IIN story about that lol Although when it comes down to this subject, I find I always end up Doing FAR more for other people than what i get in return, but I honestly don't mind :D I'm like that...

      Karma is right.

Karma balances out the Universe and everything, everyone in it.

Even if you seem to get nothing in return for doing good Karma will balance your existence out in the end. Same if you do wrong, the balance of Karma will even the scales.

Best thing is to do good and expect nothing, want nothing and if you get something give it away. You can never loose what you do not cling too and as long as you give away the things you can not loose Karma will continue to fill your basket. Conversely if you cling to all things Karma will give you nothing and you will end up with nothing.

Does it matter? There is not such a thing as karma.

I think, you get what you give.

I think people should do more for others than they expect to get in return.

So generally, I think people deserve less then what they put out there.

Heh, that's almost exactly what I was going to say!!

Don't only do things when you expect something in return, that's not a way to live. Tis better to give than to recieve!!

Well, there's plenty of precedent for this. Do as you would be done by, for instance.

Isn't communism a logical extension of this (work all you are able, and take only what you need). But communism is a rude word we've been told not to say anymore.
